Zhou Dongyu and Luhan to star in movie adaptation of 5 Centimeters Per Second

Zhou Dongyu and Luhan will lead the Chinese movie adaptation of 5 Centimeters Per Second.

The adaptation derives from the original anime drama film, which has received a high rating of 8.08 on MyAnimeList. It also won the 2007 Asia Pacific Screen Award for Best Animated Feature Film.

The plot follows two friends who separate after one moves to a different city, as each struggles to reconcile their new lives with their memories of each other, according to MyAnimeList.

Zijian Dong, a 23-year-old actor, will produce the Chinese adaptation of the movie. He is Luhan’s classmate, according to Mango Star News. He has also starred with Zhou Dongyu in the 2015 coming-of-age film The Ark of Mr. Chow.

Makoto Shinkai, the scriptwriter for the original movie, has also written Your Name, a 2016 anime movie which has received a rating of 9.34 — and the number 1 spot — on MyAnimeList.

    This! Excited for this! I watched the anime after falling in love with the soundtrack, and I can picture Luhan really well as Takaki. I hope they follow the manga version’s ending tho~ Hoping he would sing the soundtrack as well lol I ask too much ^^

      Haha I have a feeling he will be singing the OST 🙂 I’ve seen clips of the anime but haven’t watched the whole thing– does it have a happy ending? *hoping for happy ending*

        Fingers crossed! The song is really beautiful, heartbreakingly beautiful, so I hope they will just remake into the chinese version ^^

        The original anime didn’t have a happy ending. The OTP didn’t get together in the end. So did the manga version, but the ending for manga is better. He presumably got another girl lol Anyway, on the picture above, it’s actually not the main otp, they’re male lead and second female lead which supposed to end up together in manga version.
